Practise Areas

Mediation

I am passionate about mediation. In a highly litigious society, mediation can be very empowering for parties. I have mediated hundreds of family law disputes and reached win-win resolutions in most cases. I typically mediate on my own or with a co-mediator. My role is to facilitate communication, and to balance the power dynamic between the parties. The participants resolve their own dispute. Parties tend to be happier with the agency and with the outcome than if a judge resolved their case.

immigration law

I assist clients in filing immigration paper work. I also review immigration paperwork prepared by clients for correctness before they file. I provide pro bono consultation, limited assistance, and referral. I also collaborate with other immigration attorneys to resolve immigration cases.

family law

My cases have included dissolution of marriage, preparing parenting plans in both contested and uncontested divorces, child custody disputes, and orders of protection.

Landlord tenant disputes

I help tenants and some landlords navigate evictions. I educate clients about their rights and help them prepare for justice and district court hearings. Mostly I coach clients so they can better represent themselves in such proceedings.

BUSINESS REGISTRATION

I have assisted with registrations of multiple Limited Liability Companies (LLC) with Montana Secretary of State.

criminal appeals

I currently work in the appellate division of the Public Defenders' Office. I appeal criminal course and civil commitments to the Montana Supreme Court.
